Art in general has the ability to elevate minds, bridge cultures, reflect the truth about a society & change perceptions. Sadly, not a lot of good Art is being pushed on Main-Stream media now-a-days. It has become a mission and a responsibility of mine to promote and push the Art scene in Saudi Arabia. I was really amazed by the amount of talented Artists/designers/painters/Graffiti Artists in the kingdom and they certainly should have a voice and a platform where they can showcase their talent even more.

My first encounter with the Art scene in Saudi was when Calligraffiti Artist “El Seed” visited Jeddah and I was honored to meet such a creative & genuine soul.  I went up on his crane and watched him as he decorated an old building in downtown Jeddah. It was then that I noticed that more Art should be exposed to the public. We should support our local & regional artists.

You can see my video with El Seed by clicking HERE : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP0TdugwKQs

Another example of the great Art Scene in Saudi is “Dhad Store” – Saudi’s first Graffiti store. With all the conservatism in Saudi, these young managed to pull this out & reflect the true essence of an Art that is misinterpreted by people & media.
I am a Radio Host, a blogger & a human that believes in good genuine Art. I currently host Saudi’s first FM Hip-Hop Radio Show & I try to always to bring Local/Regional Artists to my show to expose their work & speak about their potential. As the Urbanist , I want to share with you my journey in discovering more artists & showcasing their talent on this platform. There are a lot of young men & women that use Art as a form of expression and not only to be famous or have certain amount of followers. Their Art Is genuine & real.

During the course of the year, I will be honored to share with you some of the artists that I stumbled on, to show you how Art in Saudi Arabia is way more than just “Art” ; these young men & women are changing perceptions using their talent. You can be sure that everything I promote would be genuine and somehow “Unexposed”. You will be getting “EXCLUSIVE” content on this platform and you will be delighted and maybe shocked (in a good way) that the Art scene in Saudi Arabia is booming and elevating real fast.

It gives me great pleasure to connect with you all, to share with you, to fight for the balance. I would need your support in sharing the content for one person can never achieve on his/her own. We need to be united as one FIST fighting the “Commercialism of Art” in our culture. Expect from me mind blowing stories/articles/posts about the urban scene in the Kingdom and believe that Art can elevate the soul & the mind.

Stay Tuned…

Yours Truly,

Hassane Dennaoui (a.k.a Big Hass “The Urbanist”)
